About Tony

Tony was born in Dayton, Ohio in the turbulent 60's. It didn't take long for him to become the anal retentive fiend you see before you today.  By the age of 5, he was sporting a briefcase & being completely nerdy. Tony's family made the move to Alabama when he was 9 to escape the harsh Midwest winters. Lucky for him they did, since that's where he met his wife & his work partner, Kris!

Tony's been married to his wonderful wife Candy for almost 17 years. They're extremely active in the theatre, even starting their own in Ramona, the Actor's Community Theatre of Ramona. They have 3 kids - Lexi, Geoffrey & Meredith. Dogs are a big part of the Randall family as well. Right now they have 4, but that number could go up at any time! Oh yeah, there's a cat as well. It's on a day-to-day plan with Tony.

Tony & Kris have been morning show partners for about 16 years, almost 15 of them in San Diego. They have the rare plus of actually being good friends & workmates. They have received many accolades & awards, including the Academy of Country Music Award for Best Major Market Personalities. They have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital & Rady Children's Hospital. They were the first FM radio personalities to travel to Iraq & broadcast their show in 2004.

Almost There!
Thursday 08-28-2008 5:49am PT
We've almost made it to the holiday weekend. An extra day of r & r! Do you have big plans for Labor Day? We'll take it pretty easy for the most part. We're taking the kids to dinner tomorrow for my birthday, then Candy & I and a few friends are going on a deep sea fishing trip Sunday. I love doing it, but have only had success on one trip. We've gone in Hawaii, Mexico & here in California & I've only caught stuff in Cali. We chased a Marlin for almost an hour in Cabo San Lucas but could never get it to bite. It should be a lot of fun. Sun, friends, beer. What more could you ask for, huh?
Other than that, it's been a fairly quiet week. Kids are getting back into the swing of school & I've been enjoying some time without rehearsals. Candy is jumping right into the next show. She's directing our Christmas show so she's already in the planning stages. I don't know how she does it.
Have a great day. The next time I do this I'll be in a new decade of my life. Yikes!
Just As I Hoped
Wednesday 08-27-2008 6:06am PT
Well, we're halfway through the first week of school & things are beautiful. Real meals, kids going to bed early, all the things I love about the school year. Geoffrey actually fell asleep last night before I did. That's what I'm talkin' about! Meredith sat down & did her whole week's homework packet in a couple hours. Nice to see her hitting it so hard. Hopefully she'll keep that going.
Candy made a awesome lasagna last night. Homemade meat sauce, lots of cheese & garlic. Yum! I can't wait to get home and have leftovers for lunch!
Two days & counting before I turn...*Gulp* 40! Feels pretty weird to be reaching an age that I used to think was old. I don't feel any different, in fact I'm probably healthier than I've ever been, but I have to say I'm a little freaked out. 40 sounds so grown up. I hope I don't suddenly lose my love of fart humor & immature jokes.
Enjoy your day.
Back To School!
Monday 08-25-2008 5:42am PT
Today's the day. My kids all head back to school today & I'm thrilled. I love the schedule a school year provides. We can actually have dinner together again after a summer of everyone doing their own thing! It's a big year. Lexi's a Senior, Geoffrey's a Freshman & Meredith starts Junior High. No more elementary school. It's bittersweet. I'm so happy to see them growing & changing, but a little sad that we won't experience the little kid things again until we're grandparents.
On the theatre front, our benefit was a huge success. Haven't got an official total yet but I know several thousand dollars were raised. The only problem was a cast member was super sick & couldn't be there so we had to scramble a bit to cover his songs. It all worked out pretty well & folks seemed to have a good time. Had a little cast party after and I had my first drinks in several weeks. A good time was had & we didn't get to bed untl 4:30 in the morning. Look at us old folks partying like rock stars!
The only other big news was that I ended my 12 year protest against Nuevo Grill in Ramona. Candy & I had lunch there yesterday. I had the street tacos. Really good! Candy said it was time to let it go. I'm glad she talked me into it.
Have a great Monday!
Oops!
Wednesday 08-20-2008 6:20am PT
Sorry! I was so out of it yesterday I completely forgot to put up a blog. It's my least favorite week, in regards to theatre. It's what we call "tech week" & it stinks! Lots of last minute details & late nights make for a tiring week. It does make it all worthwhile when the production comes off in a big way. Saturday at the Ramona Mainstage. Come see us sing & dance our little hearts out!
On the family front, it's a busy time. The kids are going back to school Monday so it's all about registration & school clothes this week. They're in for a rude awakening as they're still on the "stay up 'til 2 a.m., sleep 'til 2 p.m." schedule. I used to try to wean them back into a proper schedule, but now it's more fun to watch them struggle for a few days. I call it a life lesson. Candy & I do feel a little guilty. We're so tied up with the show this week, they've been on their own for dinners & such. I know they'll be happy to have some home-cooked meals at a real dinner table when school starts.
Have a great one!
Here We Go Again!
Monday 08-18-2008 7:04am PT
Monday and back to reality after a really nice break. We had a great vacation. Geoffrey went to Woodward West again (& got "tapped" to go back again for half-price. Very cool!) & turned 14. Meredith has been taken on by a talent agency & has already gotten a couple casting calls/auditions. She's super excited & we're so proud. Hopefully, she'll see some gigs come her way. Lexi had it pretty easy. She hung around the house & hit the Warped tour. Candy & I had a really nice time in Newport Beach. We stayed at a hoity-toity resort & it was really great to hang out with no other pressures or responsibilities. We got to shop at South Coast Plaza, a HUGE mall & I bought my first pair of fancy sunglasses - Versace. I feel so Hollywood.
Other than that, our lives have been swamped with final preparations for our benefit for the new theatre this Saturday. It's exciting but really tough work. You should definitely come. Awesome food, amazing silent auction items (lots of cool country stuff autographed by the likes of Keith Urban, Trace Adkins, Alabama, Martina McBride & others, plus Chargers suite tickets, autographed footballs, concert tickets, jewelry & a lot more), a live musical show & dancing. Call 760-703-4854 for tickets.
Have a great Monday!
Friday!
Friday 08-08-2008 6:58am PT

Hey, we made it through another week! I'm really excited to spend some good time with Candy on this vacation. We can definitely use the time to reconnect after several hectic, stressful weeks.
Actually had to come down on our oldest yesterday. She went to a concert with a friend and they were way late getting home. She's had a lot of room to do her thing because she's been so good about following the rules, but I think as she's entering her Senior year she's taking a little advantage. The beautiful thing is that she has a car so it's the easiest way to cripple a teen, just take away the keys for a while.
Happy 17th anniversary to my beautiful wife! I can't believe we're so close to 20 years. Crazy!

Happy weekend everyone!

Vacation Is Almost Here!
Thursday 08-07-2008 6:02am PT
I don't want to rub it in, but I am SOOOO looking forward to a week off next week. Popping back east for a quick visit, then we're going to spend a couple days at Newport Beach. Always nice to get away. Have you had any good trips this summer? It's tough to afford the kind of vacations families used to take, but it's important to break away so you don't go nuts!
Well, now that the Ramona Idol contest is behind us, it's all about our theatre's benefit show on the 23rd. We're rehearsing almost every day now & I think it's going to be really good. If you love celebrity autographs, you'll love our silent auction. I've been able to score some cool stuff - An autographed Trace Adkins Stetson hat, an autogrpahed Keith Urban poster, an autographed Philip Rivers football, an autographed Alabama guitar & a whole lot more. Go to our Website to get more info about the event - www.actoramona.com.
Have a great Thursday!
Shame On You, Wipeout Producers!
Wednesday 08-06-2008 7:58am PT
So I tune in to my favorite summer show, Wipeout, last night & they're doing something they call "The Wipies." It's a cheap excuse to rerun some of their favorite moments from the show. A rerun! It's only on for a limited time & they're resorting to a "Best Of" show? Come on ABC. You can do better than that!
On a plus note, I'm pleased with the winner of I Survived a Japanese Game Show, although the final game they played seemed a little underwhelming. I expected a bit more. Boy, I'm hard to please today when it comes to reality TV!
Well, the Summer Olympics start Friday. I've never been a big watcher, but now that we do more gymnastics at the gym, I have some interest in watching that part at least. Kris, as always, is miserable because they mess with his regular TV watching schedule. How about you? Are you going to check them out?

Yum!

Pretty good day yesterday. House was quiet early in the day. Lexi's in La Jolla with her BFF, Geoffrey was at a buddy's house, Meredith slept in. Makes it nice for my nap when there's no loud kids around.
Suffered though a particularly unpleasant workout at Brand X in the afternoon, then home for a quick shower & rehearsal last night.
After that I was craving a new Gourmet Taco from Rubio's. Have you tried these things yet? They are SOOO good. My favorite is the Garlic Herb Shrimp, but the Steak & Chicken are tasty too. I tried the Portobello Mushroom but it was too messy for my anal retentive ways.
After a yummy meal it was back home & to bed with my tired, sore bones.
Jack's bored, Linda's computer screen is inexplicably upside down, & Kris has a new phone he's trying to figure out. That's it.
Here's some pictures from Sunday's Ramona Idol final. Thanks to Jeanne Wood Photography! Have a great Tuesday!

Proudest Dad In The World!
Monday 08-04-2008 5:44am PT
Can you feel me smiling through the screen? My little girl won the Junior Division of Ramona Idol yesterday! All the kids were so good & I know their folks are proud too. Meredith sang Miranda Lambert's Kerosene & Bring Me Down. She worked so hard these last couple months, it was really neat to see her take the prize. Candy had good reason to be proud as well. Not just because of Meredith, but the entire Top 6 in the junior division belong to her kids' performing group, ACT'N UP!, with our theatre.
Another cause for celebration this weekend was the discovery that our favorite cat, who we thought was killed by a coyote about 6 months ago, was found by my son sitting on a driveway just a couple streets away. He's back home & a little freaked out. I hope he'll settle back in over the next couple days. I actually like this cat so it's great to see him alive & well.
I hope your weekend was great. Let's get through this Monday!
